Number 29, and the Irish Georgian Society are partnering to deliver Good Housekeeping in Historic Houses a one day seminar on Tuesday 4th November. The seminar, which is being presented in association with the Office of Public Works and the Castletown Foundation will take place in Castletown House Co. Kildare. The keynote speaker is Katy Lithgow, Head Conservator, The National Trust, England.
Those attending will learn about the importance of good housekeeping and receive expert advice on the care and conservation of their collections. They will learn about the appropriate handling, cleaning, storing and display of their paintings, furniture, textiles, books, glass and ceramics. Attendance will also equip guardians of historic houses with a better understanding of the implications of public access on the conservation of an historic house collection and an ability to know when to call in the conservator. The seminar will be of great benefit to anyone with a responsibility for historic house management.
