The Nursery

The Nursery was for the children of No 29. Their rooms were tucked away in the attic of the house, and were simpler, with no carpets or plaster work. In the Beatty family, at least three of the boys, Edward, Frederick, and Thomas went to Trinity College, where they most probably were borders. Their sister Olivia married at the age of 15.

Those educated in the home may have been taught by a governess such subjects as English, History, Geography, Music, Needle work, and continental language, probably French.

Wooden Toys

Yo-yo made in Boxwood, from the early 19th century. The Yo-yo was not popular with the children and it was also called a "Bandelore".

Child Walker

Childs Walker made from light weight wood; turned and with wooden wheels from about 1800.

Babys Crib

Swing Cradle (baby’s crib) made from lacquered wood, about 1800.
